Artists: Calvin Grimm

In his early twenties, Grimm designed and built his mountain home and studio in the historic art colony of Woodstock, New York, where he lives and paints today.

As wilderness educator, mountaineer and horseman, he has explored many extraordinary environments. His organically grounded paintings reveal a personal collaboration with the forces of nature.

Grimm is represented in private, corporate and institutional collections worldwide.

“Grimm does not render the flower; he renders the force that drives it…The beauty of nature is not so much to be found in the individual stone or tree or stream, but in the dynamic and unceasing exchange of energy between them.” – Mikhail Horowitz, Woodstock Times, July 20, 1989.
