Artists: Troy Collins

Troy is a native of Montana, but called Idaho home for twelve years during an intensive painting apprenticeship in the studio of master impressionist Robert Moore. Troy has a background in landscape architecture, which provided him with critical principles of design. However, he credits Robert with inspiring his love of Russian Impressionism while nurturing a respect for the elements which create quality in an interpretation of subject matter. The truths and principles he has learned from Robert have built a strong foundation for both his art and his life. Troy has spent many hours studying and painting with Robert on location and in the studio, and it is this wealth of knowledge and experience that forms his painting today. Troy recently returned hom eo the Big Sky in Bozeman, Montana and continues to create canvasses with energy and insight from his studio at the base of the Bridger mountains.

Robert Moore says of his former student, "His work is very individual, bold and direct in the application of paint and color, and unique in its feel. Troy is not afraid of rich color and mixes the pigment right on the canvas, as opposed to on the palette, where it can lose intensity. He lets his eye do the mixing."

Troy has enjoyed several successful exhibitions at many fine galleries and his work is widely collected across the United States.
